NEW WEB-LOG

The alignment of my skeleton requires, during my workouts, my primary focus. The alignment of the skeleton system is important for efficient running, only then the engagement of essential muscles will be enabled. During one of these workouts, I recognized in the runner’s bio-mechanics, a metaphor for the structure of Machine Projects.

Introduction

This is a first mini-post, to explain how I go on with my major-posts. Mini-posts are recognizable by the blue favicon; they are preparing you as a reader, how to read and to categorize the major-posts. Do not be afraid for losing this “thread” that’s  pointing to the solution.

Take my “Tripod model for machinery overhauls” or the alternative title “The elixir that drives maintenance better”.  The tripod, is anchored on a platform, supported by three massive columns. A pump-motor set is installed on the platform in order to pump products. How will this unit run smoothly, without any vibration and mechanical seal problems? It should be rigidly installed on a stiff foundation; the motor to be perfectly aligned with the pump, and linked, with a reliable coupling.

That’s the sequence I follow; the next major-posts will explain the three aspects of an turnaround:

  • Project, defined by targets: cost, scope of work and duration  (high level of maturity).
  • Overhaul, defined by target: Integrity; i.e.: performance, reliability and lifetime  (reasonable level of maturity).
  • Safety, defined by targets: backgrounds & characteristics, work execution and work conditions (low level of maturity, reactive).
In the explanation of the three major-posts, the liability for the quality of deliverables will be clarified based on the matureness of workers and staff. Every detail of the tripod is essential, required for a reliable individual and total assembly, after which the alignment of columns could be performed.

The final step comprises the engagement of the three aligned columns, and then we arrive close to the final major-post: the engagement of three proactive columns.

The message of the favicon is, every time it's showing up, that alignment  comes prior to engagement!

The second mini-post is about my writing.

The platform (look at the blue favicon) will be held by three supports, the pump-motor unit on the platform has to be aligned after installing correctly onto a stable foundation.  Only then, the motor will be engaged by a reliable coupling.

The three structures represent the three entities: Project - Overhaul– Safety; they have to be aligned for good engagement, only then, the specified deliverables could be optimized.

I’m studying and composing the three entities. Each chapter starts with a brief definition, followed by paragraphs like Measures – Barriers – Opportunities – Influences – Strategies.
